IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL CABBIE'S MATE UNITS CUSTOMERS

We have now released the final Cabbie's Mate maps and POIs. This is your last chance to update your Cabbie's Mate unit. This map update will be available on sale from our Online store until 31st December 2021. We shall then remove Map and POI update sales from our website and there will no longer be map or poi updates for sale.

Lifetime POI update customers will not be affected. We shall provide POI updates quarterly as usual.

As of 31st December 2021, we shall not be able to repair any Cabbie's Mate units. 5" units are now over 10 years old and the 7" units are now over 6 years old; we can no longer get spare parts. Batteries for both devices and mount brackets for 7" devices will still be available to purchase.

THE NEW CABBIE'S MATE iOS AND ANDROID APPS

The Cabbie's Mate iOS Premium option now comes with a 30 day free trial period for new subscribers; the Android Premium option will have a free trial period when released too.

We have released the new, more advanced Cabbie's Mate iOS App with updated maps and POIs. Current iOS Cabbie's Mate subscription customers will need to delete their existing app, restart their device and download the same subscription option from the App Store. New customers can download the app from the App Store and subscribe at any time. iOS Cabbie's Mate app requires iOS 12 or over and it is compatible with iPhone 6,7,8,10,11,12,13 and iPad's running iOS 12 or above.

We plan to release the new Android Cabbie's Mate app with the latest maps and pois by the end of this week. This new app will require an Android 8 version or over.

What's New

The new Cabbie's Mate app now has speed camera warnings, TFL Live traffic/road works disruption, will remember the last 20 search entries, an online search category where a user can search for door numbers on A-Z maps or any poi's that we may not have in our database. The premium version comes with functions for Knowledge boys and girls.

Both Standard and Premium subscription options receive two map updates a year, in April and October. Only premium option customers receive four poi updates a year; Standard option susbcribers only receive one POI update a year in April. However since this is a new app and files format are different, all Cabbie's Mate customers will receive the October maps and POIs.

SKY and Virgin broadband customers

It has come to our attention in the last couple of weeks that SKY and Virgin internet providers have additional security that may block map downloads. Therefore, if the map downloads do not start, SKY customers should disable the broadband shield before download, and Virgin customers should disable kids-safe and virus protection in their broadband security settings. The Cabbie's Mate apps and maps have all the security certifications.

Non Subscription Android Cabbie's Mate app

Non-Subscription Android Cabbie's Mate app customers can use their app on their current devices without any problem. However, if they delete the app, change, update their phone or perform a factory reset, they will not be able to reinstall the app and maps back since it had to be removed to make place for the new Android Cabbie's Mate app. This app is no longer compatible with our new system.

Older iOS version users (pre iOS 12)

Customers who have the iOS Cabbie's Mate app on older devices (pre iOS 12), can use the app as usual, but if they delete the app, they will no longer be able to download it.

Map downloads over 4G/5G or mobile Wi-Fi

Cabbie's Mate apps and maps now can be downloaded via 4G/5G or mobile Wi-Fi. If you don't have unlimited data or are worried about data usage, please download at home or disable your Mobile Data option on your device settings.

Dropping off and collecting your repaired Cabbie’s Mate unit from JVBright:

When you drop your unit off at JVBright for repair, please let them know if you will be away for a while or not able to collect when notified. We are more than happy to delay the delivery to suit you, but we expect drivers to collect within 48 hours once delivered. Repairs will be completed within 5-7 working days from now on. Any unit not collected within 3 months will be disposed of without further notice.

For a device inspection, the set fee is £30. Should your device require physical repair, this amount will be included in the repair fee and will not be added.

For those who are not sure of the location, JVBright is at 47/51 Gt Suffolk St. SE1 0BS; the taxi spare parts shop by the canteen and the petrol station.

A-Z Map or POI updates can be done online, at home or at JVBright (JVBright will charge an additional £5 for POI update and £10 for A-Z map with POI update for their labour).
